Miraculous shapes made with Hammers!!!

had to learn!

An Artist since the age of six, I have immersed myself in as many different mediums as possible from Ceramics and Sculpture to Painting and Pen and Ink. I graduated with a BFA in Design from Kansas University in the spring of 1979. And moved to Salida CO. on New Years Eve, 1980.
Married and three children later, my husband introduced me to Jerry, Jerry Scavezze. Goldsmith extraordinaire. Just how did he do that with a hammer anyway! Well it turned out Jerry needed help in his shop and so I became an assistant. I just fell in love with forging and raising metal and using ancient techniques to make fine contemporary shapes. 35 plus years have passed and I am still passionate, and still learning my craft. Tischer Studios is a demanding small business.
We are located in Salida Colorado in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. I am blessed everyday by great family great friends.  am still a tool junkie…I mean I try to keep it reasonable… but… Anyway I make Anticlastic Jewelry primarily…. so my tools revolve around metalsmithing, and other “toys” that help make my silver ribbon designs.
While making a living with your hands can be very challenging it also provides a singular joy and a connection with the past that is slipping away in this fast paced culture of ours. I love being able to say, I designed the earrings, made the tools, formed and polished the earrings, and took the photo.
Outside of hammering and polishing… I am a proud mother, and grandmother. Two beautiful dogs and 4 Cats totally own me. They are my companions through the night’s work, my only assistants and my favorite critics.
